Verify compliance of software with quality requirements. It contains all the elements that allow such verification.
For software testers, user documentation should be treated with the same level of attention and input as a program, because to users, documentation is just as important as a program.
Fully effective documents have the following advantages:
1. Improve ease of installation
Users' first experience of the product starts from the installation of the software. If they encounter difficulties during the installation, users may lose confidence in the software, or put forward expensive technical support requirements, or simply give up using the software. Clear, correct installation guidelines are one of the most important parts of the product documentation.
2. Improve the usability of the software
Products with good documentation are easier to use. The better the documentation, the faster the user's understanding of the product, the fewer comprehension errors and the more efficient the operation. Efficient documentation is often task-oriented, estimating user intent and explaining how to accomplish tasks.Different software types apply to different manual types, and some software provides both (task-oriented and feature-oriented) manuals.
3. Improve software reliability
Unclear and incorrect documentation will reduce the reliability of the product, and users are prone to operational errors. Good documentation can help reduce the number of user errors, even if the program is poorly designed.
4. Promote sales
High-quality documentation is often used as a selling point to help the salesperson explain and recommend products. It also plays an important role in many software reviews.
5.Reduce the cost of technical support
Finding problems by users costs tens of times more to fix than finding them early in product development. Good documentation can guide users to solve problems on their own with proper explanations and avoid technical support calls as much as possible.。
